Program Requirements

The Bachelor of Science requires the completion of at least 120 semester credits, including general education courses and all courses listed for the course requirements in the major.

  • Complete a minimum of 120 approved credits
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 in all coursework attempted at Northampton University (USA)
  • Earn an overall grade point average of at least 2.00 in all courses taken in the major area of study
  • Complete all requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree in no more than 50 terms of active enrollment excluding any periods of separation from the University
  • Complete the 11 required proctored exams= 

Northampton University (USA) has five terms in its academic year, each ten weeks in length. Students must complete all requirements for the Bachelors’s Degree in no more than 50 terms of active enrollment.

 

Grading Policies and Practices

The University insures that students are issued grades in a timely fashion and that grades are determined in a manner that is accurate, fair, and consistently applied in accord with established standards.

 

At the conclusion of each term of study, students may check their grades in their unofficial academic record in the Student Portal. Since the unofficial academic record is a permanent record of a student’s academic performance, including course selections, grades, and credits earned toward a degree, it must be correct at all times. Students who believe an error has been made on their academic records should be in contact with the Office of Academic Affairs at academic.affairs@northampton.ac.

 

Students are encouraged to speak to their Course Instructors if they wish further clarification of their grades, would like to discuss their assessments, or are considering requesting a grade change. Students with further complaints regarding alleged unfair or improper grading at Northampton University (USA) and who are unable to reach a resolution with their Course Instructor may request a Grade Appeal form from their personal Program Advisor.

    Students pursuing a bachelor of Science degree may choose additional elective
    courses beyond those specified in the General Education requirements, and/or select introductory
    courses in other majors and/or take additional courses in a student’s major that may not be required

    Careers

    To succeed in today’s evolving business world it’s necessary to have a broad range of tools and skills at your disposal in every aspect of business – from accounting and marketing to management and economic theory.  Students working towards their Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration will learn every aspect of how a business operates and thrives in today’s business climate. Students will also receive vital practical training in how to effectively conduct a job search, interview successfully for jobs, write resumes and cover letters, and plan their careers.

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration will prepare students for promising entry-level positions at businesses in many field and arm students with the expertise and training necessary to thrive and grow in these positions. Students will also gain the necessary knowledge to put their own businesses into motion – such as how to create a business plan and entrepreneurship skills.

    Graduates of this program can go on to work in business management at large corporations, start-ups, and retail businesses. Students may also go on to work in sales, accounting, human resources etc. Graduates may also find that these skills can be applied outside of the private sector, and turn these organizational and analytical skills towards non-profit management.

    Technology Requirements

    To complete a degree program at Northampton University (USA), students will need to have consistent access to a computer with a reliable internet connection. If students are working on a computer that is not their personal computer and are unable to save documents, it’s important also to obtain an external drive. Because there are no mandatory video materials for University of the Northampton University (USA) courses, this drive can be a simple USB drive. 

     

    Most of the learning materials that students will be dealing with in their Northampton University (USA) courses are compatible with Adobe PDF or Microsoft Office. Our learning platform, Moodle, can be accessed by the latest versions of IE, Safari, Opera and Chrome, but we recommend that students use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. Note also that although working through a mobile device is not recommended, it is an option. There is no need to purchase software to study at Northampton University (USA). 

    Students do not need to purchase Microsoft Office. Office 365, a subscription service offering Microsoft Office suite software – and so much more – is given to all Northampton University (USA )students without additional cost.

    Note that whatever system students choose to use, all files shared with Course Instructors and classmates must be saved in either Microsoft-compatible formats or PDF format.

    1. Is the degree available for students from every country?

    Yes

     

    2.Is the degree Internationally recognized?

    Northampton University (USA) is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency.

     

    3.Is it accredited in other countries?

    We have not pursued accreditation in any other country – in many places, being accredited in the U.S. means that it is highly respected.

     

    4.Do other universities accept credit transfers from Northampton University (USA) ?

    Yes. Northampton University (USA) has a partnership, for example, with the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), whereby UC Berkeley will consider qualified, top-performing Northampton University (USA) Associate’s degree graduates, who wish to transfer to complete a Bachelor’s degree at Berkeley. This recognition is the ultimate endorsement of the value of our degrees and it offers a great opportunity for our students. Northampton University (USA) graduates have been known to be accepted into Master’s degree programs at universities around the world too. Students who wish to transfer their Northampton University (USA) graduate credits to another institution are strongly advised to discuss this with the receiving institution as the transferability of credits earned at Northampton University (USA) is at the complete discretion of the institution to which students may seek to transfer.

     

    5.How many students will be accepted?

    There is room for everyone in an online classroom and there is no limit to how many students can be accepted into Northampton University (USA) undergraduate programs.

     

    6.Are there scholarships?

     Yes. We have a variety of scholarships. We offer as many scholarships as we have available.     7.Who is behind the program?

    The Business Administration advisory board is comprised of distinguished industry professionals and academics working to maintain the high level of quality in our online degree program. This board includes distinguished members such as Dr. Russell S. Winer, William H. Joyce Professor of Marketing at the Stern School of Business, New York University (NYU), is Northampton University (USA) Dean of Business Administration.

     

    8.How many students per class?

    20-30.

     

    9.How much time per week will students need to dedicate to their courses?

    15-20 Hours per course per week.

     

    10.Do students study in cohorts?

    No. Because we are an online university, and many of our students work while studying, we allow students to take breaks from their studies if they need to (although this is not encouraged), and as a result, classes are mixed up every term. We also believe strongly in making students part of the global economy by being part of the global village, and exposing them to different kinds of students from different cultures, in order to broaden their horizons. This is what makes them global citizens.

     

    11.Will Northampton University (USA) help its graduates find a job (will the University have a placement office)?

    12.Will Northampton University (USA) formalize any type of arrangement with companies who may sponsor employees to be accepted to the program?

    We might have this in the future.

     

    13.Is it possible to fail? Can students re-take exams? How many times?

    Yes, students can fail, and they are permitted to re-take exams – once. Students will need to re-pay the exam fee in order to retake the exam.

     

    14.Are there opportunities for classes to meet in person?

    The university does not facilitate face-to-face meetings as this would be impossible due to the global make-up of the classes. We are aware of students who have organized in-person meetings with fellow students from the undergrad programs, and when Shai travels to conferences, he does his best to meet with groups of students (as was done in Ethiopia, Nigeria, Haiti, India, etc.), but in general, the answer is no – this is not something the university can facilitate.

     

    15.Is there much support for students in an online classroom?

    Absolutely. Highly qualified Instructors are assigned to classes of 20-30 students, usually representing as many countries, and the instructor is available to answer student’s questions and offer support. The Northampton University (USA) student body hails from 194 countries worldwide, inspiring interesting dialogue between peers, and offers students alternative perspectives to their own. Northampton University (USA) pedagogical model is based on an online collaborative learning environment that promotes a culture of shared learning, dialog among peers, interaction and peer-to-peer teaching and assessment, and utilizes open-source technology along with open educational resources.

    16.How are students graded?

    Every week students have readings and are assessed on their homework. Students also have to take quizzes and are assessed on their contribution to class discussion. Every end, of course, they have an exam, many of which are proctored.

     

    17.Are there networking opportunities?

    Yes. Northampton University (USA) works hard to help further students’ networking abilities, offering a growing global community, making students’ networking potential international. Networking is an essential tool for building a successful career. At Northampton University (USA) our international community of students and faculty provides a global networking community.     Northampton University (USA) uses Microsoft Yammer for its internal social media network. Here, students can network with other Northampton University (USA) students, even those who are not in the same class.     18.Aren’t there concerns about online degrees?

    People have various opinions regarding online degrees because they are a new concept in contrast to the old tradition of physically attending school. Studying online is an effective and successful way to learn, and many of the best universities in the world, as well as almost all universities in the U.S., are offering more and more online courses, and many offer full degrees online.

     

    There is also a strong movement for open platform education; this means organizations like Northampton University (USA) are working to bring education online in a more affordable manner. Our peer-to-peer learning, which teaches the students to study and interact with other students from around the world, is part of what works best in international companies, where people need to work with teams from around the world. More and more companies are beginning to recognize online degrees these days – so we believe it is just a matter of time before there will be more universal acceptance of online education and online degrees.     All exams are administered online. Some of the courses require being proctored.
