This opportunity is available to everyone. Special consideration may be given to certain successful graduates of Northampton University (USA) undergraduate program.


Northampton University (USA) does not require that applicants come from any particular undergraduate major or employment field, and considers both what applicants have achieved in the past and what the evidence suggests they have the potential to achieve in the future. And, in keeping with its mission, it admits students from all parts of the globe, all socioeconomic strata, and all cultural and social backgrounds – creating a student body that mirrors today’s diverse society.

3. Is it internationally recognized?

Northampton University (USA) is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency.

4. Is it accredited in other countries?

We have not pursued accreditation in any other country – in many places, being accredited in the U.S. means that it is highly respected.

5. Is the Northampton University (USA) MBA also accredited by any of the program-level accrediting agencies that specialize in business programs?

All Northampton University (USA) degrees are accredited by the Distance Education Training Commission (DETC). The DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency. The MBA does not have an additional program level accreditation at this time.

6. Why does it cost $200 per end of course assessment?

Northampton University (USA) has succeeded in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education. Northampton University (USA) is able to offer our students an online degree tuition-free because of our unique model of online higher education. Our minimal assessment fees help to maintain our tuition-free online degree structure—allowing all qualified students to receive their online degree without tuition fees, educational instruction expenses, course material or annual enrollment fees.


Throughout the courses the MBA instructors are assessing the group activities and portfolio work for every student. MBA instructors monitor weekly written assignments as well as weekly discussions and peer evaluation of assignments and discussions. The work required of Course Instructors to review graduate student work products is more complex and labor-intensive than the work required for undergraduate degrees, and the fee reflects this.

7. Are there scholarships?

Currently no. We will offer as many scholarships as we will have available but currently all the donated scholarships were only for undergraduate degrees. Northampton University (USA) will always remain dedicated to its mission of opening access to higher education worldwide and will continue striving to ensure that no qualified student will be denied studying with Northampton University (USA) for financial reasons. We are here to open the gates for all qualified individuals in the world, regardless of financial, geographic, societal or personal constraints.

8. Who is behind the program?

Dr. Russell S. Winer, William H. Joyce Professor of Marketing at the Stern School of Business, New York University (NYU), is Northampton University (USA) Dean of Business Administration and heads the new MBA program. He has been assisted by an Advisory Board, made up of professionals and academics overseeing and leading the degree program’s activities and developments.


All members are distinguished leaders in the field and bring a high level of standards to the online degree program. The board consists of esteemed volunteers, such as Dr. Gabriel Hawawini of INSEAD and Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Stephan Chambers of Oxford Saïd Business School, Dr. Alex Tuzhilin of NYU Stern School of Business, Prof. Dr Kriengsak Charoenwongsak of Harvard, Mr. John Gerzema of BAV Consulting, Mr. Ken Marlin of Marlin & Associates, Dr. Albert Wenger of Union Square Ventures, and Ms. Toby Winer. All have helped envision and contribute to the world class standard of this exciting MBA.

9. Who wrote the courses?

A range of academics who are specialists in their fields, among them, Dr. Russell S. Winer and Dr. Alex Tuzhilin of NYU.

10. Who are the instructors, are they volunteers?

Our instructors are qualified Northampton University (USA) who volunteer and come from all ranks of universities and offer their services and expertise to help our students.

11. What are the components of the MBA?

The Management MBA is a 12-course, 36-credit program with three component parts:
• 8 Core courses (24 semester hours) required of all Management MBA students
• A minimum of 3 elective courses (9 semester hours)
• Capstone Project (3 semester hours)

14. How does the learning week work?

There are nine Learning Weeks in a term, and most students can expect to spend about 15 hours on a course each week. All texts, readings, cases and other supplemental materials are provided within the course itself. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and project-centered learning.


Courses are taught in small classes that foster a close sense of community. Students develop relationships that will stay with them throughout their professional lives.


Through Discussion Forums and critiquing the work of peers, students consolidate their own knowledge and skills even as they are contributing to the growth of others. Students also work in teams to complete projects, write papers, analyze and document case studies, and prepare class presentations.


Northampton University (USA) offers its students access to the Library and Resources Network (LIRN) to support their research, writing and homework needs. With a simple query, students are put in touch with an experienced librarian who can help them navigate the array of digitized books, journals, documents, photographs and other research materials available to you.

15. How long does the MBA take to complete?

Courses required for the Management MBA degree may be completed in six consecutive terms of full-time study. Full-time study is defined as two courses per term and requires a minimum of fifteen months to complete. Students can stretch this out over a maximum of five years.

16. Do students study in cohorts?

No. Because we are an online university, and many of our students work while studying, we allow students to take breaks from their studies if they need to.We also believe strongly in making students part of the global economy by being part of the global village, and exposing students to all kinds of other students from different cultures, in order to broaden one’s horizons. This is what makes our students global citizens.

17. Is there a final project?

Yes. The Capstone Project is completed at the end of a student’s program of study and allows students to tailor projects to reflect personal and professional goals. Structured as an applied research project, it is an organized experience with clearly defined goals and objectives that is conducted in an approved setting in the student’s local area. With permission, it may be completed in the organization in which they are employed or can be done in a setting that reflects longer-term career aspirations.

18. What careers/employment options would be available for graduates?

Many upper level positions in the finance industry require an MBA, and for students already employed, many will find that their MBA opens new doors for advancement at their companies. Graduates of MBA programs go on to work in sales, management, human resources, finance & investment banking, marketing management and accounting. Their skills make them a valuable asset to any business and organization, including non-profit organizations as well.

19. Will Northampton University (USA) help its graduates find a job (will the University have a placement office)?

We might have this in the future.

21. Can students fail? Can students re-sit? How many times?

Yes, students can fail, and they are permitted to re-sit – once.

22. Are there opportunities for classes to meet in person?

The university does not facilitate face-to-face meetings as this would be impossible due to the global make-up of the classes.

23. How does an online classroom work?

He/she answer any questions the student may have, offer academic advice, discuss course selection, and offer encouragement throughout the student’s studies.

24. How are students graded?

Students will be graded on performance on assignments that can include quizzes, discussion forum submissions, papers, case studies, projects, presentations, and more.

25. Are there networking opportunities?

People have various opinions regarding online degrees because they are a new concept in contrast to the old tradition of physically attending school. There is also a strong movement for open platform education; this means organizations like Northampton University (USA) are working to bring education online in a more affordable manner.
